Rivera edges Jackie Robinson...The other Jackie Robinson

According to Amen Graham, Rivera is better than Robinson (not this Robinson)

In the insane comparison of Jackie Robinson and Mariano Rivera over the "Best 42" to play the game, Graham chose the later with Rivera. Why do people do these strange comparisons. What the fuck do Rivera, an outstanding Yankee closer for more than a decade, have to do with one of the most renown and breakthrough sports figures of the last 100 years?

Graham stated:

Because baseball is played on grass and not paper, it's impossible to compare Robinson and Rivera in a vacuum. One (Robinson) spent his entire career in the National League; the other is an American League lifer. One played in the field, the other pitches in relief. One competed during baseball's golden age, the other during its steroid era. And, most important, Rivera has enjoyed a lengthy and unimpeded career; Robinson didn't join the Dodgers until after his 28th birthday, segregation having precluded the front end of his major-league experience.

This is like comparing the modern day Geo Metro, to the classic 90's Ford Taurus. It doesn't make sense? Stop doing these strange, re-dick comparisons. Should we compare the fleet-footed Paul Gasol, to former Utah Jazz Grizzly man Mark Eaton? No.
