Top Ten Sports Hi-Top Fades....Number 10: Dominique Wilkins

With the emergence of Brandon Jennings in the basketball world with his old school Hi-Top Fade, we figured we would bring some of the best fades from days past for another Top 10 list. In the same fashion as we peruse the "Internets" searching for that perfect sports stache, we feel the same way for a few other old school fashion movements. One of those fantastic fashion endeavors in the past 15 years is the Hi-top fade. A Hi-top fade is a style of haircut where hair on the sides is cut off or kept very low and hair on the top of the head is very long and dope. (in contrast, a low fade is when hair on the top is kept shorter). The Hi-top has been a trend symbolizing the Golden Era of Hip Hop and urban contemporary music during the late 1980s and the early 1990s. The Hi-top fade was common among African-American youths between 1986 to 1993 and to a lesser extent in the mid-1990s (1994-1995). The style fell out of fashion by 1996. Tear.

Number 10~Dominique Wilkins

One of the NBA's true marquee players for more than a decade, Dominique Wilkins earned the nickname "Human Highlight Film" with a plethora of spectacular individual plays dating back to his college years at Georgia. A member of the NBA All-Rookie Team in 1983, the high-flying 6-8 forward was been named to seven All-NBA teams and nine consecutive All-Star squads and is a two-time winner of the NBA Slam-Dunk Championship. In 1986 he won the NBA scoring title with an average of 30.3 points per game. Via: (NBA Encyclopedia)
Nothing was more exciting back in the day watching the Jordan-Nique slam dunk contests and watching them go head to head. He was the only player that could stay up in the air with Jordan, and sometimes literally flew higher than the King.
